Rosemary Crawley has had a lifetime of experience of working with women and women’s groups both in paid employment and as a volunteer. Her interest and commitment in women who are asylum seekers and refugees arises out of personal contacts and out of Quaker concern: she is also a member of the Quaker Asylum and refugee network.  Rosemary has been involved as a volunteer with Women with Hope in its former life as Hope Projects Women’s Group and was instrumental in helping to set up the new organisation – Women with Hope– to preserve its future.

Judy Tweddle was assistant to London Correspondent of Amrita Bazar Patrika, then taught English as a Second or Additional Language.  She taught in Nigeria for three years. In Birmingham she became an Adult Literacy coordinator, then a Language Support teacher.   On retirement she worked with the Hope Project in Administration and started the knitting project to foster relaxed communication.

Anthony Wilson Now retired after 24 years as secretary to the Barrow Cadbury Trust in Birmingham, following nine years in rural community development in Malawi, Central Africa. As trust secretary, responsible for applications and grants for work in broad fields of social justice. A past trustee of local charities, and now an active member of Staffordshire Area Quaker Meeting (Religious Society of Friends).

Agnes Tanoh fled from political persecution on 26th April 2011 during civil war in her country.She became a destitute Asylum Seeker after her release from Yarlswood Detention Centre, and a Refugee in 2018. From 2013 to 2019, she volunteered with Hope Projects in Birmingham and continues with Women with Hope. Her commitment is to ‘give back a little from the huge support I received during hard times’.

Senait Jones is Honorary Treasurer of Women with Hope. She has been in involved with asylum seekers and refugees through personal contacts within the Eritrean community, helping them settle in the UK and mentoring individuals to find employment.

Barbara Forbes has for a long time been actively concerned about the welfare of Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the UK and elsewhere.
